TITLE: Optimizing
Transportation Hub Location and Hub Network Design
ABSTRACT: Hub networks provide
efficient transportation between many origins and many destinations.
Over the past twenty-five years, researchers have addressed a wide
range of hub location and hub network design problems motivated by air,
ground and water transportation systems. This first half of the
presentation provides a quick overview of hub location research,
including motivation for “classic” hub location problems, alternative
formulations and optimal solution methods. The second half of the
presentation highlights some recent research on competitive Stackelberg
hub arc location and network design models for airfreight and passenger
transportation.
